Growing up in Hungary, herbal remedies, crystals, and spiritual guidance were simply part of everyday life. Moving to the UK sixteen years ago, I felt pressure to keep these practices private — worried that sharing “woo-woo stuff” would make me look like a weirdo, or at least someone a little bit crazy.
My supportive circle has evolved since then. My husband now embraces my spiritual perspectives more openly, and the world has shifted too. So I want to share something I have kept largely private until now: Reiki has played an important role in my life, and I think it might in yours too.
I obtained my Reiki Level 1 certification years ago, primarily to support my young family during illnesses and accidents — helping me stay calm and nurturing when things went wrong. I share this practice with my daughters, teaching them to recognise energy dynamics and trust their intuition in social situations.
A significant turning point came when I met Colleen through a women’s coaching group, coinciding with my father-in-law’s sudden death from cancer. Colleen provided crucial emotional support and encouraged self-care when I needed it most. Over four years, she has attuned me to Reiki Level 2 and, recently, Reiki Master.
I use Reiki in my own unconventional way — not rigidly or formally, but flexibly, to create harmony and joy in my everyday life. I am, as Colleen puts it, her “black sheep” of the Reiki world. And I am completely fine with that.
I would love to hear about your experiences with Reiki or energy healing. If you are curious and would like to know more, please feel free to reach out.
